Psalm 144:12

Some quick thoughts on a verse that has had me thinking…


Psalm 144:12

“Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.”

  • Stands on a firm foundation – of generations beforehand
  • Supports the next level – of generations to come
  • Epitomised by strength
  • Round, with no sharp corners – does not cause pain for those around about
  • Planted and faithful – loyal to the House and doesn’t shift beliefs in the breeze
  • Positioned with others to provide ultimate support – unity in community

  • Carefully and gently refined – discipleship, mentoring
  • Does not need to be added to – everything you need is inside you already
  • Carved for greater beauty – turning plain surfaces into a beautiful testimony of what God has done


Pronunciation:.\ə-ˈdȯrn\ 1 : to enhance the appearance of especially with beautiful objects 2 : to enliven or decorate as if with ornament

  • To be beauty – in face, and heart, and lifestyle
  • To bring beauty – worship to God, joy, kindness and compassion
  • To embellish and decorate the world with grace
  • Expression of God’s beauty


Pronunciation:\ˈpa-ləs\ 1 a: the official residence of a chief of state (as a king or a president)

  • In the house of royalty – in the family of God
  • Positioned in a place of leadership, of authority, of decion-making
  • A luxurious space, with no expense spared
