Another thought from ‘The Waiting City’:
There is a line in the film, delivered by a young nun who works in an Indian orphanage. She is very matter-of-fact when she says it, offering simple advice to a couple stuck in limbo and desperate to get their new daughter home to Australia.
“We must act out of love, not desperation or need.”
How easy it is to make decisions, consciously or subconsciously, out of our own need – our need for acceptance, for approval, for security, for love.
But oh, how I want to let love lead the way.
